Booking Questions and Traveler Details
When you book an activity through MyPerfectStay, you may need to provide additional information beyond your basic contact details. This information helps activity providers prepare for your experience and ensures everything runs smoothly on the day of your activity. Here is what to expect when completing your booking.
Understanding the Two-Step Process
The booking process in MyPerfectStay has two main parts where you provide information:
- Step 1: Booking Questions - These are activity-specific questions that vary depending on what you are booking. Not all activities require booking questions, but many do. You complete these from your cart before proceeding to checkout.
- Step 2: Checkout Details - These are the standard contact and billing details required for every booking. You provide these during the checkout process.
Booking Questions Screen
When you have items in your cart that require additional information, you will see a "Travel Details" indicator on each cart item. If the indicator shows that travel details are needed, you will need to provide this information before you can proceed to checkout. Tapping on "Add travel details" or the edit button opens the Booking Questions screen. This screen presents questions one at a time using a progress bar at the top so you can see how many questions remain. You navigate through questions by completing each one and tapping Continue.
Types of Booking Questions
The questions you see depend entirely on the activity you are booking. Activity providers configure which questions are required based on what they need to know to deliver your experience. Here are the common categories:
Per-Traveler Questions
Some questions need to be answered for each person in your booking. The screen will show "Details for Traveler" followed by a number when there are multiple travelers. Common per-traveler questions include:
- Full name (first name and last name) - This should match the ID you will carry
- Date of birth or age band selection
- Nationality or passport information for border crossings
- Weight or height for activities with equipment sizing or safety limits
Per-Booking Questions
These questions apply to the entire booking rather than each traveler. Examples include:
- Special requests or dietary requirements
- Language preferences for guided tours
- Hotel name for reference
Transportation and Pickup Questions
Activities that include pickup or transfer services have their own set of questions to ensure you are collected from the right place at the right time.
How Are You Arriving?
For transfer activities, you may be asked to select your arrival mode. Options typically include:
- Air (arriving by plane)
- Rail (arriving by train)
- Port (arriving by cruise ship)
- Other transportation methods
Based on your selection, you will see follow-up questions specific to that mode of transport:
Air Arrival Questions:
- Airline name
- Flight number
- Arrival time
- Drop-off location preference
Rail Arrival Questions:
- Train line or service
- Station name
- Arrival time
Port Arrival Questions:
- Cruise ship name
- Port arrival time
Pickup Location
For activities with pickup service, you will be asked where you want to be picked up. The app presents you with a choice:
"Do you know where you want to be picked up?" If you know your pickup location, tap "Yes, I know" and you will be able to select from available pickup points or, if the activity allows it, enter a custom pickup address. Available pickup points might include specific hotels, landmarks, or meeting points that the activity provider services. If you are unsure of your pickup location (for example, if you have not booked accommodation yet), you can select "I don't know yet" when that option is available. This registers your booking with a note that you will contact the supplier later to arrange pickup details.
Required vs Optional Questions
Questions are marked as either mandatory or optional:
- Mandatory questions must be answered before you can proceed to the next question or complete your booking. These are indicated by a required field marker and the Continue button will not work until you provide an answer.
- Optional questions can be skipped if you do not have the information or prefer not to answer. However, providing this information when possible helps activity providers better prepare for your experience.
Input Types
Depending on what information is needed, you will see different types of input fields:
- Text Fields - For entering names, addresses, or free-form responses. Some fields have character limits based on what the activity provider has configured.
- Picker/Dropdown - For selecting from predefined options. This is used for things like nationality selection (which includes all countries), age bands, or specific choices the activity provider has set up.
- Date Picker - For selecting dates, such as date of birth. The picker presents a calendar interface for easy selection.
- Time Picker - For selecting times, such as preferred pickup time or arrival time.
- Numeric Fields - For entering numbers like weight, height, or quantities. These fields show a numeric keyboard and may include unit selection (for example, choosing between kg and lbs for weight).
Editing Your Answers
If you need to change your answers after completing the booking questions, you can do so from your cart. Each cart item with completed travel details shows an edit option. Tapping edit takes you back through the booking questions where you can update your answers. You can also navigate backward through questions using the back arrow if you realize you made a mistake before completing all questions.
Checkout Details
Once all booking questions are answered for items in your cart, you can proceed to checkout. The checkout process requires standard contact information:
- First Name and Last Name - The name of the lead traveler or person making the booking. If you are logged in, this may be pre-filled from your profile.
- Email Address - Where your booking confirmation and voucher will be sent. Make sure this is accurate as it is your primary method of receiving booking documents.
- Country - Your country of residence. When you select a country, the dial code for phone numbers is automatically updated to match.
- Postal Code - Your postal or ZIP code for billing purposes.
- Phone Number - A contact number where you can be reached. This is important for day-of communication if the activity provider needs to reach you. You select a dial code (country code) and enter your number.
Saving Details for Future Bookings
If you are logged into your account, you can save your checkout details for faster checkout on future bookings. After completing checkout, you may be prompted to save your traveler profile. Saved details appear automatically the next time you check out, though you can always edit them if something has changed.
Tips for Completing Booking Questions
- Be Accurate with Names - Names should match what appears on the ID you will carry to the activity. Many activities, especially those crossing borders or requiring identification, need exact name matches.
- Provide Complete Information - Missing or incomplete information may delay your booking confirmation or cause issues on the day of your activity.
- Double-Check Spelling - Especially for email addresses and names. Typos in your email mean you will not receive your confirmation and voucher.
- Answer Honestly - Questions about physical requirements or health conditions are asked for your safety. Providing accurate information helps activity providers ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Keep Contact Information Current - If your phone number or email changes between booking and your activity date, contact customer support to update your information.
